In Death I Sweetly Sing (sheet music)
In Death I Sweetly Sing On new years day I sadly received the message that my good, dear friend John Rogerson (1948-2022) passed away at the Mumbai Airport, India, after arriving there for his yearly dog training course. The same day I composed this (and a week later, “We Never Said Goodbye”). I will miss him dearly but I am sure he is now entertaining the Angels “up there” with his funny songs.
The title is based on a poem found inside a lute from 1500 Century. John re-used it in all his instruments:
Viva fui in Silvis
Sum dura occisa
Securi dum vixi tacui
Mortua dulce cano
I was alive in the forest
I was cut by the cruel axe
In life I was silent
In death I sweetly sing
Rest In Peace, my dear friend.
