Rumba in Matanzas (sheet music)

$3,00

Rumba in Matanzas is a, well, a Rumba. The Rumba originated among the African slaves in Cuba in the sixteenth century. It began as a fast and sensual dance with exaggerated hip movements. The dance was said to be representing the male pursuit of a woman and the music played with a staccato beat to keep time with the expressive movements of the dancers.
Matanzas is the capital of the Cuban province with the same name. Known for its music, poets, culture, and Afro-Cuban folklore, it is located on the northern shore of the island of Cuba, 56 miles east of the capital Havana.
