Schönster Herr Jesu, is a German psalm from the music collection “Schlesische Volksliederen” (Folksongs from Schlesien) by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben and Ernst Richter, published for the first time in 1842. It is also very popular in Sweden (Härlig är Jorden) and in Denmark (Dejlig er Jorden) meaning “Earth, the Beautiful”. In Denmark it is used as a Christmas Carol and in Sweden for funerals! In and case it is one of my favorite Psalm melodies.
